Mamaroneck Public Radio was founded in fall 2021 by then-seniors Caitlyn Carpenter, Anna McDonald, and Fatimah Khan at Mamaroneck High School located in Mamaroneck, NY. Although independently created, it works closely with the school's Journalism program, which was launched in 2013 by teacher Evan Madin. The radio makes use of the school's podcasting studio, which second-semester Journalism students use to produce podcasts.
This radio's aim is to create a student-run source of news and entertainment for the MHS student body and the larger Mamaroneck community. Students manage all content broadcasted on the radio including music, talk shows, and smaller advertisements and inserts. MPR was made possible by grants from both Mamaroneck Schools Foundation and the MHS PTA and took inspiration from Sleepy Hollow Radio. Showrunners: Kovid Odouard, Donya Dami, Kailey Ayala, Rowel Jimenez, Catherine McCarthy, Sofia Rosenbaum, Stevie Georgakakis, Andrew Glinski, Sebastian Gold, Pia Ducrot Head of Tech: Anthony Cap ('23) Faculty Advisor: Evan Madin |
